DETAILPAYSLIP DESCRIPTION
ACCOMMODATIONPart of the Tesco Central European Resourcing plan.  Deduction is made on a weekly basis to over accommodation costs and utility bills.
ATGWUUnion deduction.
AVCVoluntary contributions that an employee can make towards their pension.
AVC ARREARSDeduction to recover outstanding AVC arrears.
BAYE AS YOU EARN X UKShare-buying scheme offered to all Tesco employees with 3 month’s service.  Only for expats.
BOOT DEDUCTIONDeduction for footwear used mainly in distribution area.
BUY AS YOU EARNShare-buying scheme offered to all Tesco employees with 3 month’s service.
CABLE & WIRELESS BILLNet deduction that will be used to deduct the employees C&W four weekly personal call charges.  It will only be processed if the employee has sufficient Net Pay to deduct the whole deduction value supplied on the C&W four weekly deduction interface.
CABLE & WIRELESS VATNet deduction that will be used to deduct the VAT incurred on their personal calls.  It will only be processed if the employee has sufficient Net Pay to deduct the whole deduction value supplied on the C&W four weekly deduction interface.
CARE 4Deduction made if the employee has opted for the Childcare Benefit scheme and the deduction is more than the fixed £50.
CLOTHING DEDUCTIONDeducted from employees who have received certain items of Tesco clothing.
CLUB CARD PLUSSaving scheme that employees voluntary join.  It requires a deduction made from an employee’s wage each month, which is then put on a debit card which can be used towards shopping at Tesco.
CAR DEDUCTIONCompany Car deduction.
COMPANY CARCompany Car deduction.
COMPANY CAR 1Deduction takes place when an employee chooses a car with a higher value than their entitlement.
COMPANY CAR 2Deduction used for when an employee has decided to trade down on their company car.
COMPANY CAR CONTRIBUTIONDeduction made if the employee has a company car.  The deduction is for costs towards the private use of a company car.
COURTAmount deducted for any Court Orders/Attachment of Earnings.
COURT FEEAmount deducted for any Court Orders/Attachment of Earnings.
COURT ORDERAmount deducted for any Court Orders/Attachment of Earnings.
DRIVERS FUNDCharity contribution that only distribution drivers make to aid other drivers.
EXELEXEL deduction.
FOOTWEAR DEDUCTIONDeduction for footwear used mainly in distribution area.
GIVE AS YOU EARNEmployees can request for a weekly deduction to be taken from their pay and automatically paid to a charity of their choice.
HCI RECOVERYDeducted from an employees who leaves the company with monies still outstanding on the HCI loan.
HEALTH CAREPrivate health care deduction.
HYPOTHETICAL TAXManually calculated deduction of tax (expats only).
ISLE OF MAN TAXDifferent from normal income tax.  Isle of Man pay a lower rate.
LOANDeducted from the employees pay when an advance/loan has been given previously.  Amount can vary.
M S FUnion deduction.
NET REVERSALThe Net value of a reversal.
NATIONAL DENTAL PLANDental Plan deduction.
NEW PENSION 1Pension deduction.

NI EMPLOYEES CONTRIBUTIONNational Insurance is a payment every employee in the UK contributes to if they meet the certain criteria.
OTHERSIf there is no room on the payslip because the employee has been deducted the maximum number of elements, the remaining elements will be grouped together and deducted as others.

PERSONAL INSURANCEVoluntary Deduction for an insurance policy which provides cash benefit for an employee in the event of an accident.
POST TAX ADJUSTMENTDeduction used to recover a payment if in-sufficient taxable pay.  i.e. loan.
PRE TAX ADJUSTMENTPayment adjustment that can be made before tax is deducted to repay monies lost or to pay one off taxable payments.
RELOCATION RECOVERYDeduction used to recover relocation pay.
REPAY ADVANCEThe deduction of monies paid in advance to assist the transfer of employees from weekly to 4 weekly pay.
SAVE AS YOU EARNTesco staff offer, that gives the employees an opportunity of getting Tesco shares.  Employees must have 1 year’s service.
SIMPLY HEALTHVoluntary Deduction which allows employees to claim for medical help.
SOCIAL CLUBVoluntary subscription for social club facilities.
STUDENT LOANThis is a deduction if you are a student who has started work to pay back government grants.
TAXTax is paid by all employees in the UK, who have earned over a specific tax free amount.  This tax free amount is determined by an employee’s tax code.
TAXABLE PENSIONPension which is taxable.

  1. I have been off sick for the past 5 weeks. I am contracted for 15 hours a week. I received unpaid sick hours and unpaid sick value. Does this mean that I won’t receive any sick pay? I did receive basic pay. Going forward will I not receive any statutory sick pay?
